6. évfolyam                 The Loch Ness Monster

Chapter 1
Carol McKenzie is a little girl. She lives in the north of Great Britain, in Scotland. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. But Carol doesn’t live in Edinburgh; she lives in a small village with her mummy and daddy. There are a lot of lakes in Scotland. The Scottish call them lochs. The deepest loch is Loch Lomond, but the most famous is Loch Ness. It is said that a monster lives there. So Carol lives in a small house on a hill near Loch Ness.
NOTE
Loch Ness is a long, narrow lake in the highland area of Scotland. It forms part of the Caledonian Canal. It extends in a northeastern direction for about 39 km. The average width of the lake is about 2 km. and the greatest depth is about 230 m.

Chapter 2
Carol’s father, Mr. McKenzie is a shepherd. He has got a big flock of sheep*. Scottish sheep are famous all over the world for their fine wool.
Carol is a nice girl. She does not go to school yet, but she helps her father with the sheep with great pleasure. She takes the sheep down to Loch Ness every day and brings them back in the evening.
